Gregerson, Rosow, Johnson & Nilan is pleased to announce that attorney Tory Sailer has earned his LLM in Taxation from the Washington University School of Law.  Wash U offers a rigorous course of study in tax law, including courses related to federal income tax, corporate tax, and partnership tax, taught by law school faculty and leading practitioners in the field.  Tory has worked toward his LLM for the last two years, while continuing to practice law full time, and had his degree conferred in May.  Congratulations, Tory!

Attorney Ric Rosow was recently honored as the 2022 recipient of the Douglas K. Amdahl Public Attorney Career Achievement Award.  The award is given to recognize retired or retiring public attorneys who have had a distinguished career as public attorneys, have made many significant contributions to public service, and are recognized as models of the dedication and commitment of public attorneys.  This year, Ric was recognized for the caliber of his work, his achievements, and his demonstrated commitment to public service during his long-standing service to Minnesota cities and practice in the field of municipal law.  Congratulations Ric!

Mark Johnson was recognized at last week’s Delano city council meeting for his years of dedication and service to the City of Delano.  Our firm has been proud to act as city attorney for Delano over the last several decades, and the city council and staff shared their thanks and memories of projects that Mark has helped with over the years.  At the meeting, Mark also shared his own gratitude and appreciation for the people he has worked with at the City and noted how honored he has been to participate in their efforts on behalf of the City of Delano.  Congratulations Mark!

Gregerson, Rosow, Johnson & Nilan is pleased to announce that Tory Sailer has joined the firm as an associate attorney.  Tory is a 2018 graduate of Mitchell Hamline College of Law and is currently working toward his LLM from Washington University.  Tory will serve as the lead prosecutor for the City of Eden Prairie and comes to the firm with past experience as an Assistant County Attorney and as a law clerk for the public defender and city attorney’s offices.

Joe Nilan and Jake Merkel prevailed in the Wisconsin Court of Appeals on behalf of a home inspector client.  The court of appeals’ decision affirms the circuit court’s previous ruling in our client’s favor, and holds that the claims against our client are subject to binding arbitration under the parties’ contract.  The court also rejected the plaintiffs’ arguments that the arbitration clause was unconscionable or against public policy.
